Pokemon Adventures - Episode 1

Poket Monsters, also known as Pokemons, are creatures with amazing abilities and their capability to be captured and kept in a Pokeball to be carried around. They come in all shapes and sizes. They live in the world all around us. From the sky above, on land and in water. Humans have been living in peace with Pokemons. Some treat them as friends, family, or battle comrades as they have helped made life easier and enjoyable.

And now, a new adventure is unfolding in the region of Illyria.

EP 1 – A New Beginning

In the small town of Alleysia, in the Illyria region, new budding trainers start on their own adventures. And in the Fallon family, this is no exception.

An alarm clock goes off at 8am sharp. There was a ruffling noise coming from the bed as an arm shot out from the blanket and silenced the noise. And then, it slowly retreated back within the covers.

“Keno, time to get up!!” A woman shouted from downstairs.

“Just a few more minutes, Mom.” Keno answered sleepily as he snuggled back to sleep.

Just then, the room door creaked open as a Pokemon stepped lightly into the room. The Pokemon jumped onto the bed and walked towards Keno’s face and brushed its bushy tail back and forth.

Keno tried to stifle a sneeze. “Aww…Come on…!!” He hid beneath the blanket.

Undaunted, the Pokemon snuck beneath the covers and moved towards Keno’s feet and tickled him. That caused uncontrollable laughter from the room.

“Alright Eevee, I’m up already.” Keno said as Eevee got down the bed and stared at him.

“Okay…I’ll go and get ready.” Keno said as he went towards the bathroom.

After about fifteen minutes, footsteps were heard approaching the kitchen.

“Hahaha…Keno’s a lazy boy.” Three young boys chorused together as Keno sat at by the dining table while Eevee went to his feeding bowl.

“You three just wait…You’ll get your turn later.” Keno threatened his younger brothers.

“Keno Fallon, how could you be so mean to your siblings? I’m extremely disappointed in you.” Mrs. Fallon lectured Keno while his brothers made funny faces behind her.

“Even though they can be quite unbearable and irritating little brats most of the times.” She added jokingly. The siblings nod their heads vigorously until they realized what Mrs. Fallon said and chimed “Not fair, Mommy.” followed by laughters and giggles.

“Okay boys, let your brother have his breakfast in peace. He still needs to get to the lab later.” Their father said as he walked through the back door which leads to the sanctuary.

After breakfast, Keno got ready to leave with Eevee. “Mom, I’m going to the lab.” He informed Mrs. Fallon as he smiled at his Pokemon. “Race you to the lab.” He grinned and started running with Eevee following closely behind. As he reached the lab about five minutes later, both he and Eevee were panting heavily from the uphill climb towards the Pokemon lab.

“So, who won this time?” Came a woman’s voice from the back of the lab.

“It’s a tie.” Keno answered as both he and Eevee rested on the living room couch.

“Here Keno, have some biscuits and juice. Take a five minutes rest.” The woman appeared with a plate of cookies and a jug of fruit juice. “You too Eevee.” She added as she settled down a feeding bowl filled with food. Eevee hopped down from the couch and was munching happily while the woman patted his head. “I’ll be at the back if you need me. And you don’t have to wear your coat” She told Keno as she got up and left.

“Thanks, Professor Alice.” Keno said and wondered to himself why he won’t need his lab coat.

Five minutes later, Keno and Eevee joined Prof. Alice in the main lab while she was having a conversation with other people on the mainframe. “Ah, just in time, Keno.” Prof. Alice gestured him to come over. “Everyone, meet my wonderful assistant, Keno Fallon.” Prof. Alice introduced with a smile as the other professors waved in excitement.

“Wow…It’s so awesome to be able to meet you guys.” Keno said in excitement as he looked from one image to another of the other professors. There’s Prof. Oak from the Kanto region, Prof. Elm from the Johto Region, Prof. Birch from the Hoenn region, Prof. Rowan from the Sinnoh region and Prof. Juniper from the Unova region.

“Alice has said many good things about you.” Prof. Juniper said to him. “Yes, yes…It’s no wonder that she’s very proud of you.” Prof. Oak added. “We’ll be waiting for the day you can present your research topic and share your knowledge with everyone.” Prof. Elm beamed with happiness. “You will make a fine researcher in the future.” Prof. Rowan nodded in agreement. “No doubt about that.” Prof. Birch agreed.

“Oh…and you have such an adorable Eevee.” Prof. Juniper mentioned as she giggled. “Well, no point keeping you any longer. I guess we’ll make our move.” Prof. Oak said as he almost terminated his connection.

“No, please, stay for a bit longer.” Prof. Alice suggested. “Yes, I want to see what his starting Pokemon will be.” Prof. Juniper added.

“Starting Pokemon?” Keno looked at Prof. Alice in confusion. “Keno, you know what day is today. Right?” Prof. Alice asked him. “Only Trainers can get their starting Pokemons when they reached the age of ten.” Keno replied. “That’s true. And you time has come.” Prof. Alice replied with a smile.

“But I can’t leave you. Who’s going to help you in your work at the lab?” Keno asked. “That would be me.” The door slid open and Mrs. Fallon walked in. Prof. Alice placed her hands on Keno’s shoulder. “You can’t learn much just by staying in the lab and studying Pokemons. Their real nature shows up when in their natural habitat. For this, you need to travel around the world and see them for yourself.” Prof. Alice advised him.

“It’s true. There is a limit to learning from within the lab.” Prof. Oak agreed as the others nodded. “The real learning comes from the outside world.” Prof. Juniper concurred. “Besides, keeping yourself holed up inside the lab can be real boring at times.” Prof. Rowan seconded.

“This would be the best way for you to discover new things about Pokemon.” Mrs. Fallon said as she stood beside Prof. Alice. After considering for a moment, Keno finally let out a sigh. “Okay then. I’ll go.” He said as both Prof. Alice and his mom hugged him.

“There’s only one left. I wonder how this darling will react.” Prof Alice said as she typed in a command and a container rose from the floor. Revealing a single Pokeball left inside. Keno held it in his hand and pressed the button to release the occupant within the Pokeball. There was a short bright flash and the Pokemon was revealed.

“Oh, such a wonderful thing.” Mrs. Fallon adored the Pokemon.

“Cute too.” Prof. Juniper agreed. As the flash vanished, it revealed a Skitty. The Pokemon looked around a bit and immediately searched for a cover to hide.

“Awww…she’s still too shy…” Prof. Alice said as Keno bent down to have a look at his Pokemon as she drew further back into her hiding spot. “Come on now, Skitty. There’s nothing to be afraid of.” Keno tried his best to comfort Skitty. After a while, he gave up and sat on the floor. Eevee went below the table and nudged Skitty. They exchanged some conversations and then Skitty followed Eevee out of her hiding spot.

Eevee approached Keno and nudged Keno’s hand upwards with his head as Keno stroked him. Skitty approached warily. “Come now, Skitty. I won’t hurt you.” Keno said as he laid his other hand down with a Poketreat.

Skitty took a few cautious sniffs before trying out the treat. She fell in love with it on the first bite and got all cuddly with Keno.

“My goodness…I think I’m going to pamper you too much in the future.” Keno laughed as he petted Skitty.

“Well, here’s another thing for you.” Prof. Alice said as she passed an object to Keno. It’s a red contraption that’s just about the size of the palm. Keno pushed the button in the middle and the cover flipped open to reveal a screen and some additional buttons for navigation. The screen flickered to life and a mechanical voice sounded. “This Pokedex belongs to Keno Fallon of Alleysia. Officially recognized by Prof. Alice.” A picture of Keno appeared on the screen.

“Finally, a Pokemon Trainer…I’m so proud of you, Keno.” Mrs. Fallon gave him a hug amidst the applause and congratulations from the other professors.

“Well, let’s head to your home to begin your journey. Just wait for a bit while I close the lab for the day.” Prof. Alice announced as she bade the other professors goodbye and logged off while Keno and Mrs. Fallon helped to clean up a bit.

At the Fallon’s home, Keno was packing up while Eevee and Skitty were playing downstairs. “Hmm…laptop, solar powered battery, camera, clothings, Poketreats…that should be it.” Smiled as he zipped up his backpack and got down.

“Your emergency food and drink supplies are here.” Mr. Fallon said as he gestured towards the kitchen table. “These will be for the times when you have to stay out in the wilderness. Normally Pokemon Centers will serve decent food to travelers who stays for the night.” Mrs. Fallon added.
“Thanks Mom, thanks Dad…” Keno hugged them both then proceeded to place the items in his bag.

Keno’s brothers gave him a hug as he came to the living room. “Now you three be good and help out in the sanctuary.” Keno said as his brothers nodded their head. “We’ll miss you.” They gave him a hug. “I know, I’ll miss you guys too.” He said with a smile.

“Take care, and have fun.” Prof. Alice said as she gave him a hug as well. “I will…” Keno replied.
“Just keep in touch whenever you can.” Mr. Fallon said as he ruffled Keno’s head.

“So, are you guys up for an adventure?” Keno asked Eevee and Skitty. Both looked at him eagerly. “Wanna stay in the Pokeball?” This question was followed by rigorous head shake as reply. “Well, we’re off then.” They all started on their first step into the world as Pokemon trainers. On a journey of a lifetime of friendships, challenges, learning and fun.
